Welcome! ~ Velkommen!
Here, in my little corner of bloglandia, is my blog about my crafts. Until recentley I've blogged about my card making. Now, in 2011, I'll try to do different things also, such as sewing (patchwork), knitting, crochet, baking, along with some card making...

TIOT # 32 ~ Back to School

All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them

A fun challenge this week at SCACD; make a teacher or a student gift. I came up with this pencil holder, an altered can, bean sprout can to be specific, it has a good size for this purpose. I'm always thinking of my self as a card maker, but it's fun to do something else, to go outside my comfort zone. On this project I even got to use eyelets, that's a rare thing to do these days!

The stamp I used is the sweet and cool lady owls on a branch from the QT Hooty Owl stamp set by Pink Cat Studio from SCACD. Colored with my Prismacolor pencils. I put Kaisercraft Rhinestones on the flowers on their hats, punched some leaves to make their branch a nicer place to be....

I'll give this holder to one of my nieces, she starts her second year in college these days. She's into environmental stuff, so recycling is something she likes. The brown paper I used is from the Green Stack, a paper pad by DCWV - recycled papers, and the bean sprout can has now started a new life as a pencil holder - a nice gift for her!

I painted on the inside of the can.

I made faux seams, very easy and quick to do
with a ruler and a tracing wheel at hand!

On the company blog Follow Your Heart you can see all the wonderful projects by the rest of the DT ladies!
